The Labours of Today
The labors of today
We till the land
Hope at hand
It will rain
After lots of pain
We gather our harvests in barns
Hoping tomorrow will come
We say prayers
Hoping God will hear us
We are the laborers
Of today
We know no future is certain
But we understand there are consequences for certain
So we cut down tree
To light out Kitchens
And brighten our living rooms
We soil our rivers
As we turn the earth upside down
In search of oil
And all its spoils
Still hoping tomorrow will be fine
We gather to dine
Then retire to our nice
Woolen covered shrines
Because we prayed!
It’s all in a day’s labor
Tomorrow!
We will have other exploits
