How to do Land Search, Rent Payments Online

Its now possible to perform land search and make annual land rate payments online from anywhere with internet access. Payment can also be done using credit cards, debit cards, bank transfers and mobile money. all this tanks to the roll out of Online services by the Ministry of Lands , housing and Urban development through the eCitizen portal. 

The online service will be rolled out in phases starting with the Nairobi registry. The Ministry hints at taking all its services online going forward.

This move is going to lock out ‘land brokers,’ enhance efficiency and reduce corruption in land dealings and transactions across the country.

How to use online portal

• Logon to https://lands.ecitizen.go.ke and Signup, (if already registered then Sign in).
• Click on Ministry of Land, Housing & Urban Development’s link and choose; LAND SEARCH Enter your Title Number – e.g. NAIROBI/BLOCK123 and the parcel number – e.g. 321 which is found on the Certificate of Title. Fill in the online form and submit.
• Confirm details and proceed to pay using available payment options.
• Once payment has been confirmed, the applicant has the option to print the results, otherwise, the results are available electronically in your eCitizen account.

Land Rent Payment  (Demand Note Request)

Land rent payment has gone paperless. The procedure can now be done easily on your phone using USSD code *512#

The Procedure Of Paying Land Rent

You need to register first,do this  by sending the word  ‘lands’ to 21504.

Then dial *512# to request amount due.

Follow the Menu below;

1. Register your land – The Ministry would like to have the contact details for all parcel owners, input your Title number (e.g. Nairobi/block123/123), Full names, ID Number (This will be verified using IPRS) and Land rent amount (as it appears on the Title). On successful registration, you will be notified if and when someone conducts a search on your land parcel.

2. Track your application – Enter your application number as sent to you upon booking your documents at Ardhi house.

3. Pay Land Rent – Enter your Land Reference (LR) Number, enter your ID Number and confirm your details. You will receive an SMS with payment options.
