How to check you KPLC bill by email or sms
There are three distinct ways to get your Kenya Power Bill . Kenya Power post paid customers can now check their monthly bill by simply sending an email to bill@kplc.co.ke, writing an SMS to 95551 or you can register to receive your bill monthly on your email.
What you need
- Your Kenya Power account number
- Working email plan
- Working SMS plan
The Procedure
Kenya Power bill via email
1. Open a new e-mail message.
2. Type the first part of your account number in the subject field. For example, if your account number is 998877-01, just type 998877.
3. Email the blank message to bill@kplc.co.ke
KPLC Kenya power Bill via SMS
1. Open a new SMS message.
2. Type the first part of your account number in the message field. For example, if your account number is 998877-01, just type 998877.
3. Send this message to 95551.
KPLC Kenya Power Bill online
You can check your power bill on the Kenya Power website at https://contactcentre.kplc.co.ke/KEIOPEN/index.xhtml.
You can also register online http://kplc.co.ke/551/ to receive the KPLC monthly bill via your email.

I paid my bill thro mpesa on 19/12/11 ac no.319238-02: todate the same has not been updated. On 5/1/12 i called customer care and i was advised by a lady called Florence to visit the revenue section or do another payment since the mpesa system was in order. I opted to make another payment and still not updated. Today i visited revenue section and was quickly advised the 1st payment will be updated tomorrow. I was disconnected today!! Having paid double. My biggest question is…CAN THE MPESA PYMENTS BE UPDATED IN 48HRS.?? Am in total darkness …pls give us good customer care.

I have noted with concern and worried, my November billing has a problem of been over charged because when i checked the previous reading the unit used was 109 but KPLC have indicated in the bill that the unit used was 125 of which they haven’t indicated the previous reading in the bill my a/c no is 2933213-01. I have noticed the system – via email – takes like 24 hours to generate a response. Also make sure the subject and body is just the first part of you KPLC bill number. If your bill number is 12345678-23

Since i moved in 2 ma self, o have never received a bill from kplc. my worry is that you’ll give me a billi wont be able to pay. it was a new house en ma meter number is 60922157 and the reading as per yesterday was 235 units… so hw much am i suppose to pay. Please help.
Send the first part of your account number to bill@kplc.co.ke or to 5551 on your cellphone to receive your account balance.

my account number is 3365342-01, i was connected on 01/05/2011 and my first bill reads 16,375.86 and am told the account has been in arrears since 28/01/2011 where does this amount come from? while my meter reading stands at 64 units
You need to get in touch with KPLC though the email provided in the article Sir. Unless the account is for a business there is no way it can read that much,well labda kama you use a water heater.
