How to Apply for VISA to China in Kenya
Kenyan passport holders who want to apply for a Chinese visa can apply through the Consular section VFS Global from 8.30 am to 3.00 pm on working days. Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Kenya has outsourced the work to VFS Global.
Update 15 January 2019
- You can apply for you Visa to the P.R. of China 1 month to 3 month before departure.
- You are now expected to fill the Chinese visa application online
- You will be required to book an appointment online for the China visa
- You will have to submit the bio-metrics (finger prints) will be take at the Chinese visa application centre.

China Visa Requirements for Kenyan Citizens

- Passport: Original passport with at least six months of remaining validity and with at least two blank visa pages, a photocopy of the passport’s data page and the photo page if it is separate.
- Visa Application Form
- Photo (size: 48mm x 33mm)
- Photocopy previous Chinese visa
- Documents showing the itinerary including air ticket booking record (round trip) and proof of a hotel reservation
- Invitation letter issued by a relevant unit or individual in China.
The invitation letter should contain:
(1) Information of the applicant (incl. full name, gender, date of birth, etc.);
(2) Details of the planned visit (incl. arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, accommodation arrangements, etc.);
(3) Information of the inviting party(incl. name of organization or person concerned, contact telephone number, address, official stamp of the organization, signature of the legal representative or individual).For those who do not have a tourist invitation of any kind a proof of hotel reservations and a detailed schedule of the trip into China is to be provided.
Photo Specifications
The photograph must be in color against a white background.
It should be 48 mm X 33 mm.
The photograph should not have any staple marks.

I would like to know if the visa fees are meant to be paid before applying for the visa and presenting it to the embassy or after.I didn’t quite understand the instructions on that,as provided in the Chinese embassy website.Thanks

Visa fees for Chinese visa are paid only after the visa application has been approved and processed. You pay on the day of visa collection.
