Visa to Brazil is issued at Brazilian Consulates or the Consular Section of a Brazilian Embassy. In Nairobi the Brazilian embassy has jurisdiction over Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda and Uganda
Regular passport holders of Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Somalia MUST obtain a visa to enter Brazil.

- Types of visa: Visitors visa and Work visa
- Access the required on-line form available at: https://formulario-mre.serpro.gov.br (this webiste is in Portuguese, select the English). You are required to upload all the documents, including photo and signature, during your online application.
- Select the “Visa Request” link.
- Select the type of your visa from the drop-down box.
- Follow the onscreen prompts to enter all the required personal and travel information.
- Print the form, glue (do not staple it) a recent picture (with an white background) and sign it. Just one form is enough.
- Bring the original receipt with your filled and signed form with the documents required for your type of visa (check the information on the link of each visa type)
- Information on Brazil visa fees to be paid via MPESA or direct bank deposit.
- Estimated processing time of documents is 5 to 10 working days. Please be advised that processing time may be extended during peak months.
-Public hours are from 10:00 am to 01:00 pm, Monday to Friday (except for public holidays).
-Telephone reception hours: Monday to Friday, from 9:00am to 10:am, and from 2:30pm to 4:30pm.

Currency
The legal currency of Brazil is the real (R$).Reais can be obtained at banks and exchange houses abroad. The foreign exchange rate is published daily in newspapers and on specialized websites.
Is it possible to exchange currency at ATMs?
Many institutions operating in the exchange market have ATMs specifically designed for foreign currency exchange. The limit per transaction is US$3,000 (or the equivalent amount in other currencies).
