You can now purchase Telkom Kenya and Airtel Kenya airtime /top-up from MPESA. This solves the problem for Telkom Kenya and Airtel Kenya subscribers, however, it can be useful for Safaricom subscribers too.

Simple go to your MPESA phone

How to budget your Airtel Kenya Airtime usage
Suppose you want to spend Ksh 400 per month on airtime. This is how you can set up your Airtel subscription.
Step 1: Using M-PESA Ratiba to automate the process so that in subsequent weeks, your phone will receive Airtel Airtime worth Ksh 100. This will enable you to renew the Tubonge All Net Weekly of Ksh 80 and retain Ksh 20 in your line as an extra allowance.
(a) Go to the MPESA App or dial *344# and select M-PESA Ratiba and Opt-in – This will not work if you have a Fuliza loan. M-PESA Ratiba has a charge of Ksh 5 per transaction. In the below example, your mpesa will be charged Ksh 5 weekly + Ksh 100 for the airtime.
(b) After confirmation, dial *344#, select M-PESA Ratiba and create Standing order
(c) Pay bill
(d) Amount Ksh 100
(e) Enter business no 822490
(f) Enter account number: Your phone number
(g) Name of standing order: Airtel Airtime
(h) Enter the first day of standing order ( current day)
(i) Enter the last day of the standing order (6 months / 12 months from today) – Can be changed
(j) Select frequency: weekly
(k) Confirm the standing order to 822490 -Hawlast Ventures
(l) Once done, you enter the M-PESA pin. And you will receive a confirmation SMS
You will receive airtime worth Ksh 100 a few seconds once the M-PESA Ratiba has been set up.
Step 2: Go back to your Airtel line and dial *544#. Choose Tubonge All Net Weekly 80 and subscribe for your first weekly Tubonge offer.
