How to Change Your NHIF Preferred Hospital
The new NHIF guidelines provide for a member to choose their preferred outpatient hospital /medical facility where they will be going to seek outpatient medical help. The preference here is pegged on the proximity and well your own opinion about the facility.

Once you choose a preferred facility you will not be able to get your medical services paid by NHIF from ANY other hospital. In the situation where you might need to change your preferred outpatient medical facility/ hospital; NHIF allows you to do so twice a year. Download the CHANGE OF MEDICAL FACILITY FORM
Update 29 August 2018: On the outpatient medical facility form, you can indicate a different hospital for each of your family members. This very helpful for those families who stay in different towns.
There is usually a national call out for change of NHIF preferred facilities. When the call is out you are advised to visit your new hospital and change your preference.
If you feel you need to change the hospital before a call is made you can still visit your nearest NHIF branch and submit the change of medical facility form.

Where do I check the outpatient hospitals that I chose
I am a registered member since June. My contribution is up to date. But I have not been able to get my NHIF card. I was told to collect it 2months after registration date. I have visited the office where I registered, 4 times and they keep on telling me to go back next week, next week, next week!. Reason being, my forms do not have a photo. I submitted the fully filled forms with a passport size photo. On my last 2 visits, I went with my passport size photos,but I was again told both times to go back “next week” saying that the person responsible for photo attachment bla bla bla is not available!. This is not only annoying but time wasting and costly in terms of fare!.
My question is…
Can I get NHIF services at any accredited hospital without necessary having the card but just the number and my ID card?
I have been transferred to a different county, will I have my photo attached and card printed elsewhere at any other NHIF branch office apart from the place I registered?.
